Simple Tags

This extension-/module-combination is intended for tagging weblog entries.

Simple as in basic.
There really are no bells & whistles or shiny interfaces. Any custom field can be designated as a field containing comma-separated tags. When posting, updating or deleting an entry the tagging database table is updated accordingly.
If you happen to already have such a field, e.g. used for <meta name="keywords"> or the like, you can also re-index all your existing entries without the need to update them bit by bit.

Tags as in informally assigning relevant keywords or phrases to entries and being able to use this information to access them.
This version only supports tagging by the authors, not by your visitors. Currently there are no plans to change this.

Bad News:
Simple Tags 1.0 will no longer be distributed. I will still answer support-related questions here in the comments but there will be no new functionality or bugfixes.

Good News:
Simple Tags 1.6 will soon be released. It will have several new output features (recent tags, related tags, related entries) as well as improvements to existing features and internal coding.
That will be the version that’ll be ported to EE 2.0 once the time is ripe.

Sorry for posting again: I meant supporting Umlauts in the URLs if it was not clear.

Thanks for this wonderful add-on!
I have one feature request though. Will there be any support für German Umlauts in the near future, e.g ü=ue, ä=ae and so on. I’m sure, you know what I mean wink
Thanks!

The solution to Ronny’s problem was to add dynamic="off" to the weblog:entries-tag enclosed in the simpletag:taglist-tag.
I added that to example code in the installation instructions.

Hi,

I love your module, but I believe I’m running into a small bug. I’ll try to explain the current situation I have because I’m not sure if this bug happens in different situations.

I have 2 weblogs. Weblog A has entries with short titles. Let’s say one of those titles is called “expressionengine”. In weblog B there are articles that will be related to weblog A and in weblog B I use your simple tag module.

The problem I’m facing is that I create a tag called “expressionengine” in weblog B which happens to be the same as an entry-title in weblog A. When I click on the tag I go to the taglist template but I don’t see any entries for that tag. I assume it’s because there already is an entry with the same name in weblog A.

Do you have any ideas and/or solutions about this?
